Alexis Gordon (she/they/star)
Alexis is a Black Queer woman living with Sickle Cell Disease. She is on a constant search for what bodily autonomy means for her, combining her lived experiences and frameworks like reproductive justice and queer theory to find those answers. She was first introduced to the Reproductive Justice movement in college while serving as a Youth Leadership Council member at Healthy and Free TN. This afforded her the opportunity to attend her first Sister Song Conference, and when she sang in the opening plenary, she knew she had found her home. Last year Alexis returned to the Sister Song conference as a workshop facilitator. Alexis is currently a volunteer for the St. Louis Queer Support Helpline where she works to uplift Black and Disabled Queer voices in her community. She enjoys writing poetry and collage making, finding the practices to be forms of somatic-healing.
