Amaya Jacques (she/her)

Amaya Jacques is youth activist, writer, model, and solo traveler. 

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in New Orleans, with Caribbean Roots. Her passion for youth advocacy, reproductive justice, and art are centered through a black feminist lens. Amaya is continually expanding her work and knowledge to support other black youth in her community.  Amaya is a freelance model intentionally creating content to highlight Black Beauty and joy. All of Amaya’s work centers Black Youth and Black Womanhood in a multifaceted way.

In her episode Amaya discuses how and why she centers young people in her activism, the harmful effects of school dress codes, and the sexualization of young Black girls’ bodies. Amaya also talks about getting rid of the cop in your head and how modeling has opened up new avenues for her to explore her self-expression.
